“About six years ago I was working in my garden, and I had a very bad back incident. I’d always had a bad back and experienced spasms, but this was something very different,” says Betty Schroeder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
“I went to a chiropractor for several months, but when that didn’t help, I went to a sports medicine doctor. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my lower back. This came as a shock to me since I had no idea that I even had arthritis. I found that if I exercised, my back would not go out as much, but about 2 1/2 years ago, my back was so bad that I could not bend over to feed my two cats and my dog.
