International Pilates Day in New York

«Traditionally, Pilates Day is held during the first weekend of May, and the year 2016 was no exception. A hallmark of the 2016 celebration was the ceremony respectfully dedicated to the memory of Joseph and Clara Pilates, which was held at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, New York, where the urns with the ashes of the famous couple are stored.

The event was organized for the first time here thanks to the efforts of Lolita San Miguel and her group of colleagues and friends. Ms. San Miguel hopes that the event will be held here every two years. This way Pilates Method fans will be able to express their gratitude and pay tribute to Joseph in two different worlds – in Monchengladbach, Germany – the birthplace of Joe at the biennial International Pilates Heritage Congress and now in New York at Ferncliff Cemetery and Manhattan with the Pilates Memorial Day Celebration in alternating years. Lolita San Miguel has once again demonstrated gratitude and devotion to her brilliant mentor by giving the world ample opportunities to follow her example!…»
